Local 3985 History
The Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Firefighter's Local 3985 was organized to provide the best possible service to the residents we protect, meanwhile providing the best possible working conditions for our members. The idea of organizing a Local began in 1999 when career members began brainstorming about a way on how to unite their members to achieve certain goals. After many meetings that year, a vote was taken. A unanimous 13-0 vote prevailed and Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Local 3985 was born. Today, Local 3985 has grown to a strong Brotherhood with over 40 members. Our main objective remains unchanged, providing the best possible service to the citizens of the cities we serve. Local 3985 has members on the Technical Rescue Team, Hazardous Materials Team, and Water Rescue Team. Two members of Local 3985 also went to
New Orleans in September to aid in the relief efforts. Local 3985 also contributed $2,000 to the IAFF Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund. In the years to come, Local 3985 will continue to grow larger and stronger to continue to provide the very best service possible to the fine citizens we serve.
